TLKM - Commences 5G trials

Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLKM) mobile arm, Telkomsel has started a 5G trial on spectrum of 3.5Ghz and 26Ghz through Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). For the trial, the company partners with Ericsson and Qualcomm. (Source : Investor Daily) Comment : The trial marks MNO preparation to roll out 5G service in coming years, while vt is planning to carry out auctions this year on 4 spectrums namely 700Mhz, 2.1Ghz, 3.5Ghz, and 26Ghz. Although still new, 5G is believed to be a game changer for telcos, enhancing for speed integration of other technology such as AI.
