KLBF – Strengthens local medical technological capabilities ahead of US import surge Kalbe Farma (KLBF) is stepping up its local medical device production in anticipation of increased competition from upcoming US-Indonesia trade agreements. To stay competitive, Kalbe has partnered with GE HealthCare to develop domestically produced CT Scanners, supported by a IDR260 bn investment in a new manufacturing facility. The Company aims to meet both public and private domestic demand while maximizing local content (TKDN) in its products. Kalbe targets a 52 unit production run in 2025-2026 and 306 units by 2027 with over 40% TKDN. They will give Kalbe an edge in public hospital tenders where locally sourced equipment is favored. Kalbe’s collaboration with GE would provide them with access to global technology with its strong local positioning, helping the company maintain resilience in the face of US imports.
