CPIN – Weak purchasing power remains a challenge

CPIN – Weak purchasing power remains a challenge Weak purchasing power remains a challenge for Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPIN) in 2H25F. In 1H25, poultry prices declined due to lower demand and consumption in 2Q25 as lack of catalyst. In order to help stabilize between the demand and supply, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) had set the live chicken price at IDR18,000 per kg, back on June 19, 2025. Thus far, MoA has mandated the culling of around 3 mn parent-level chickens and 49.8 mn hatching eggs, in 7M25. As of September 15, 2025, the price of whole chicken reached IDR38,660 per bird, up 10.46% since the Ministry’s intervention in May 2025. CPIN projects improving demand and supply in 2H25F. In addition, livebird prices holding above IDR20,000 per kg remain a positive catalyst. However, the main challenge lies in potential pressure on the processed food segment and risks of weakening purchasing power. Note that, CPIN recorded revenue of IDR33.06 tn (+0.3% yoy) and net profit of IDR1.9 tn (+7.48% yoy) in 1H25. (Source : Kontan)
