SMGR – Diversification and efficiency
09 July 2025
SMGR – Diversification and efficiency Semen Indonesia (SMGR) continues to face issues of oversupply, weakened purchasing power, and intense competition. SMGR is targeting a modest sales growth of just 3–4% yoy this year. The contributions of its subsidiaries, export expansion, and the realization of the government’s 3 mn housing program could help drive this growth. Note that, SMGR exported 2.4 mn tons of cemenf (+13.8% yoy) to Bangladesh, Australia and Taiwan in 1Q25. SMGR is also implementing operational efficiency measures and diversifying into non-cement businesses, including precision interlock brick manufacturing, waste processing, and building material aggregation—these segments contributed 5–7% of EBITDA in 1Q25.
