Coal - Indonesia's production exceeding targets, strong exports As of November 15, 2024, Indonesia's coal production reached 711.37 mn tons, surpassing the ESDM's annual target of 710 mn tons. Of this total, 50.6%, or 359 mn tons, were sold to the export market, equivalent to 69.3% of the total export realization in 2023. (Source : Kontan) Comment : As of 10M24, Indonesia's coal production grew 6.7% yoy, reaching 711.37 mn tons by mid-November, or 77.3% of the 920 mn-ton mining permit. Output is on track to hit 800 mn tons by year-end. While 4Q24 production may dip due to increased rainfall in Sumatra and Kalimantan, strong export demand from India, regional markets, and North Asia offsets softer demand from China.
