PTBA - PLTU Sumsel 8 Commences Operations Bukit Asam (PTBA) has officially announced that the Sumsel-8 Mine Mouth Steam Power Plant (PLTU) with a capacity of 2x660 MW has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) status. The COD status came into effect on October 7, 2023, as confirmed by PLN. The PLTU MT Sumsel-8 power plant serves the Sumatran Electricity System by providing electricity for public use and has an annual coal consumption of approximately 5.4 million tons. The total investment for the PLTU MT Sumsel-8 project amounted to a substantial US$ 1.68 billion.
