TLKM – Its 5G Expansion Fuels Subscriber Growth Telkom Indonesia (TLKM)'s aggressive 5G expansion has significantly boosted its subscriber base. As of July 2024, Telkomsel, its subsidiary, had 3.2mn 5G users, a 97% increase from the previous year. This surge is primarily attributed to wider device availability and the appeal of faster, more reliable internet. Telkomsel's 5G network, supported by over 1,000 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) across 56 cities/regencies, has seen rapid adoption in key areas like Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Batam, Semarang, Surabaya, Makassar, and Medan. These regions, characterized by higher device penetration and robust economic activity, have experienced particularly strong 5G uptake. TLKM plans to further expand its 5G network, focusing on Jakarta and other major cities. Partnering with Huawei for technology solutions, the company has achieved impressive speeds and low latency, delivering a high-quality 5G experience.
