KLBF - Invest IDR200 bn to build radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production facility Kalbe Farma (KLBF) is investing IDR200 bn to build a radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production facility, focusing on fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) for early cancer detection. This facility is vital for supporting Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography Scanning (PET/CT-Scan) services in hospitals. KLBF aims to complete the project by early 2025, with plans for a similar facility in Makassar requiring an equivalent investment. Funding for these initiatives comes from this year's capex of IDR1 tn. Note that, PET/CT-Scan is an advanced medical imaging examination providing detailed insights into organ function. In comparison to MRI scans or CT scans, PET-CT scans can offer more information for determining the stage of cancer. Furthermore, KLBF has entered collaborations with hospitals to leverage radiopharmaceuticals not only for cancer treatments but also for assessments related to heart conditions, neurology, Alzheimer's, and various other medical fields.
